Just wanted to add another note from FB: "She was born not being able to walk on her hind legs - she had spinal surgery in September but it can take as long as 14 months before we will know if she can walk or not."

Now Molly is really mad - we have to tie down her backside so she doesn't keep trying to lift it to walk and please make note of Molly's high fashion boots so her pads do not bleed.

It is so amazing - Molly and Hank are really becoming good friends and love to play together - Hank hates it when Molly has to stay in her cart.

Lynette: Went to Annapolis, MD today with my friend Kathleen Doyle to meet with Maryland State Senator Ron Young. What a wonderful man. The Animal Abuser Registry bill will be introduced next week and then I will be asking everyone for help in contacting the committee that will pass it on for a vote. The best part - it will be called Heidi's Law!!

Lynette: The owner from James Gang Pizza in Middletown called me today and asked if I could print off reward signs and he would put them on all his take out pizza boxes - everyone please say a blessing for this wonderful man. I took 200 to him tonight and he gave me a hug and said how sorry he was. What a blessing!.

On 1/4/12, Heidi, a 7 month old female golden retriever was fatally shot 4 times by a small caliber hand gun while she romped and played on her own farm land not 300 yards from her house. This was not a hunting accident. It was a deliberate and calculated act of violence against an unsuspecting, innocent, non-threatening creature of God. Please help us find Heidi's killer ... if you have any information that can identify this person, please contact Frederick County Animal Control at 301-600-1544 or Frederick County Sheriff's Department at 301-600-1046.

As of 1/18/12, the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Heidi's killer is over $7,500! Thanks to Goldheart Golden Retriever Rescue, their underwriting associates, and many, many of you for your private and corporate donations to this cause.

1/11/12: We received permission from Animal Control to have a search party on and near my property. We will do it on January 21, 2012 at 10:00 am and the goal is to have metal detectors to try and find the other 2 bullets and 4 casings. A good friend of mine is going to go to different places to see if they will loan us metal detectors. We will work in groups. Please let me know if you are free to help as we need to get some idea of how to lay out the area.

1/12/12: The metal detecting search for evidence for Heidi has been moved up to this Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 9:00 am - so far we have 6 metal detecting devices and hopefully we will have more. If anyone has one they could loan for the day that would be great. Please let me know if you are planning on coming so we can coordinate how to work this. Thank you.

Here is yet another news clip on Molly's sissy, Heidi. In the clip is video of Molly scooting around in her cart - that Heidi helped encourage her to do. This is just so sad.

The only comfort is hoping they catch this sicko now! If they can shoot an innocent, little happy-go-lucky, loving-life puppy, who knows what they could do if provoked or angered or even with road rage.

This is not a direct Molly update but I do feel we need to share what happened yesterday, Wed, Jan 4 on Lynette's farm in Middletown, Md. Heidi, Lynette's seven-month old golden puppy was missing. When they finally found her little body, she had been shot three times.

Hooray - Molly got her stitches out today! The discouraging news is she lost the flexion in her legs we gained before the tail had to be amputated - but I am trying to stay positive. She will start physical therapy next Wednesday so please keep praying for a miracle for Molly.

How to drive a golden retriever crazy in 10 seconds or less - Molly in her normal position on the box that she chewed. Marshmellow decided to get inside the box and have some fun with Molly - it has been too funny watching them.

It is such a joy to see Molly getting around like a normal dog! She wants to be outside all the time and runs and plays with the other puppies like the cart is not even attached. I wonder how she must feel being able to play and move freely. God love you Miss Molly!

Updates - Question on incontinence: So far still incontinent but the neurosurgeon says that the feeling in her nerves can take months at which point we are keeping our fingers crossed - for the incontinence and that hopefully one day she will walk!

Maybe my Mom is smarter than me - now I can't lay down on the floor!

Ha! Ha! I certainly have a lot of time to think being trapped in this cart. If she won't get me out of this position I will show her.....I will eat my way out!

"Molly is still at Dr. Scheuler's and the stitches have held for 24 hours which is the first time since last Monday. His office said she is in good spirits and she is eating fine. They are keeping her out by the receptionist desk during the day because she likes the company. The one thing that is funny is that Dr. Scheuler has an older chocolate lab and when he comes into the office he ignores Molly which is driving her crazy! She tries jumping up and down and barking at him to get his attention but he just walks by her and ignores her :-)"

"Molly had a rough day today and had to go back to Dr. Scheulers. Her stitches are coming out and will need to be restitched for the third time. God sent Molly an angel in the form of Barbara Noll who spent the day working with Molly in her cart, laying on the floor with Molly while she slept and when it became apparent Molly was going to have to go to Dr. Scheulers she evern took a detour and took Molly on her way home. Friday, 12/9/11:
"Molly is home after a very, very long day! We picked her up from Dr. Schueler's this morning at 8:00 am and met a wonderful man named Rob there who then proceeded to transport Molly to Oxford, MD to get fitted for her new cart. The fitting took over 3 hours so we did not meet up again until 6:00 pm and finally arrived home (with the new cart) at 8:30 pm. Big thanks to Rob - he left his house at 4:30 am to meet us and still had over a 2 hours drive home after we met to get Molly. Talk about unselfish!"

Rob has the Biggest heart for goldens of anyone I know. He is truly one of kindest, most compassionate guys I know when it comes the these precious pups!

Good and Bad News.

Again, bless Lynette - here is another update...

12-6-11: "Molly is doing well today and the best news is that Molly was in pain today and they had to give her morphine. No I am not crazy - the pain means she is getting some feeling and that is wonderful news!"

12/8/11: Quick update on Molly - she will be coming home tomorrow after getting fit for a cart. She has done great and the only bad news today was the results came back from the lab on the infection and she has MRSA. Needless to say we will have to take precautions to protect ourselves once she is home but we are still quite happy that she is coming home!

12/9/11: After quite a scramble, we were able to get Lynette some help with transporting Molly from Westminster to Oxford and back again. Due to some problems, Molly needed some help getting to all the various points she needed to go to today.

After an email from me to my friend, Rob, who coordinates our Lancaster Golden Romps, for his assistance in sending out an email blast to all our rompers, Rob stepped up the plate and will be Molly's chauffeur today. Leaving his home in Lancaster, PA, picking up Molly in Westminster, MD, transporting her to Oxford, MD to get her new cart and then reverse (over 330 miles)! This man is a saint and has the heart of a golden retriever! God bless you, Rob! and all who are doing all they can for this special little girl.

Please pray for Molly's healing (and Lynette's). May this MRSA thing be a non-issue and the cart be the start of Molly learning to walk, so she get eventually learn to do it on her own!

"This has been a rough few days - Molly's tail was badly infected which is normal for dogs who cannot walk on their hind legs and the neurosurgeon ended up removing her tail this afternoon. Molly made it through with flying colors and hopefully will come home with a cart when I pick her up Friday. As always, prayers for this amazing golden. Heidi and Hank were "fixed" today aand will come home tomorrow. It will be a quiet night at the Kaufmann's.
I am still sick - my husband wanted me to go to the hospital this morning but I quickly talked him out of that. Well - there is always tomorrow............"

Molly's Back from Week of Intensive Rehab

Goldheart sent Molly to Dr Scheuler's for a week of intensive rehab: Below is Lynette's FB update:
As most of you know Molly spent five days at Dr. Scheuler's last week to receive some intensive therapy to try and strengthen the muscles in her back legs as she has never had the use of them. They were quite pleased with her progress and Molly is actually standing some and her back legs definitely look stronger when she is standing. She still cannot walk but this is to be expected at this point in her recovery. I will keep everyone updated as she progresses. Please pray for a mircale for Molly!

I attended our annual fall golden romp today at Lancaster County Park coordinated by our Golden Leader, Rob. Bless his heart! We had close to 20 dogs in attendence! But what made the romp even better was: he had the idea for me to make an announcement about Molly (most already heard about her). I updated everyone with her current status posted on Lynette's FB page that I had just read a few hours prior. He aslo had a bucket available for folks to contribute to her care. They sent me home with $141 and Rob's instructions to email him the details and he will send out a plea to the remaining 90 or so folks who did not attend but are on his golden romp email list!

Thank God for folks like Rob and all Molly's other friends AND the rescues like Goldheart who are willing to give pups like Molly the best chances available for a the most normal life possible! Let the rehab begin!

Molly went to Dr Scheuler last Monday and came back with some good results. Lynette told me Dr Scheuler saw about a 5% improvement. He knew that didn't seem like much, but he hadn't expected to see that at this point. He worked her legs a bit and Molly was NOT happy about that, so she definitely has feeling back there!

He wanted her to come stay for a week so they could work with her and I just saw on Lynette's FB page that she will be going there tomorrow for five days for intensive therapy. They will be able to give her pain shots to he can start working her leg muscles. She will also do swim therapy while there.

This week at the specialist will not be inexpensive, so again, I'll put out a plea for financial help for Molly's care. It can be sent to GoldHeart Golden Retriever Rescue. http://www.goldheart.org/. If you can let them know it is to help sweet little Molly!

Tues, 10-04: Molly is doing great - eating like a pig and when she is allowed out of her crate she is so energetic - she is only allowed out 3 times a day for 10 minutes but she so treasures those 10 minutes. She goes outside and looks at the sky and the trees and I can almost hear her saying - isn't this wonderful.

Lynette sent an update late last evening:

Molly is resting comfortably and ate a great dinner - I cheated a little and put some homemade spaghetti in it and she gobbled it up and then drank a ton of water. She is sleeping and resting comfortably now - I think it was probably painful for her to drive in the car all that distance.

If I have to cook her food myself she will eat!

Molly's home!

Molly came home this afternoon. Long ride for the little girl.

She has a Fentanyl patch on until October 3 and then they will try the oral pain pills.

She really does need to eat more. She had gained some weight prior to the surgery but now she is very thin. Surgeon told Lynette that her goal now is to get her to start eating more.

Lynette is so very relieved to have her back. Hopefully Molly will feel more comfortable now that she is home and her appetite will return. Being with and surrounded by her loving foster family can only help and hopefully the best medicine she needs to get her appetite back.

Hooray - Dr. Scheuler said he thought he saw some slight improvement on Molly's right side this morning - it might not seem like much but it is a great sign!

Sweet little Molly is stuck in the hospital for a couple days before she can go home for her long road to RECOVERY and HEALING and IMPROVEMENT and RESTORATION!

But foster mom, Lynette ventured to the hospital today to spend some time with the sedated little girl. Lynette stated: "a little drugged from the morphine but doing well. I fell asleep on the floor laying next to her for about an hour".

We all send our snuggles and love, Molly!


Lord, please heal this little pup inside and out, to the perfection you intended all little puppies to enjoy. Amen.

Surgery is now behind Molly

Someone looks a bit nervous...

As so many of us waited and prayed all day for little Molly during her spinal surgery, Dr Scheuler worked a little harder than anticipated. The surgery was a bit more complicated, in that they had to free her spinal cord from bone and scar tissue and ended up putting in a bone plate.

She will be in the hospital a minimum of three days, possibly longer. Once back to her foster home with Lynette, Molly will be sedated, only allowed out of her crate three times a day for ten minutes. She will need to be in a small crate so she will have very little room to move around.

Her room is to be dark and quite with as little stimulation as possible. She will need a baby monitor for Lynette and family to monitor if she starts to stir or cry. Remaining calm and still for eight weeks will be a very long road ahead - a road we all pray will be worth it in the future.

Monday afternoon, 9/26 is the day Molly goes for her spinal surgery for a chance to help her to walk someday. With an 8-wk restricted schedule afterwards for this little girl, she's got a rough road ahead.

Molly went to "Woofstock"

A beautiful day for a dog walk - even for Molly. Molly attended Woofstock in Harrisburg on Sunday, Sept 18 with her friends from GoldHeart Golden Rescue (www.goldheart.org). She even got on TV! Channel 27 did a spot on her to help raise funds for her spinal surgery. She's a star. She's "touching lives and warming hearts" already at her very young age.

Molly got her MRI

Lynette took Molly to Dr Schuller for her MRI on Tuesday at 3 pm. Looks like 50/50 chance she could walk someday. Watching for more updates to see what decisions are made. See Lynette's comment below:

" He went over the MRI with me - she has some discs that are too small and some discs that are too long, she has one with a large bone spur that would have to be removed, he would have to shave some bones, add some metal rods, screws and cement. "

"I am so excited - Molly went swimming today in our dog therapy pool (thank God we built one) and she did GREAT! She swam for about 10 minutes and loved it. Unfortunately she was still not able to move her back legs even in the water but she will be doing this now 3 times a day."

Sweet girl Molly is now with Gold Heart Golden Retriever Rescue in her new home with Lynette and family in Middletown, MD. Kris and I delivered her in person to Lynette's home, but were contemplating turning around each mile of the way. BUT we did what was best for Molly at this point. It was a very hard thing to do. Molly is such an endearing little puppy. Her spunk is amazing! She's a puppy who has no idea she could have 'issues'. She loves everyone, everything and just life in general - a typical golden.

Looks like an MRI is scheduled next week for her and I can hardly contain myself to wait to hear the results. I pray, as I'm sure many are, that there will be something they can do to improve her situation.

I hope to be able to post more info or show Lynette how to update Molly's blog.

Moving day for Molly tomorrow

Weather permitting, Molly will be traveling to MD to Gold Heart Golden Retriever Rescue's special needs foster home. Here, she will get the medical tests done to know once and for all what her prognosis is

We all pray she'll be able to walk someday or at least learn to get around in her cart. She sure is scampering around just the way she is, but that's not conducive to live that way. Slings have been used to assist her with potty-ing and getting from point a to point b.

My heart is heavy, but I've put her in God's hands and have faith He has a wonderful plan for her inspirational live ahead of her.

It's with great sadness I post that Molly is looking for a home again. The family tried but found it to be too much. Molly needs a lot of TLC and will for quite sometime.

I'm afraid rescue may be the way we're going to have to go. Molly is staying with Kris, who actually is the one who found Molly back in June and been supporting her in any way possible with neurologist appointments and rehab appointments. But with so many other demands on her life right now, I doubt she can keep her.

It's killing me not to be able to take her. I'm STILL losing sleep over this.But we do have several rescues who would take her. Now we just want to be sure she goes where she'll be best taken care of and happy.

Unless there is an angel out there . . .

Molly's 1st Week HOME !! 8/18/11

Molly has been home for a week now, and we couldn't be happier to have her in our lives! She is adjusting very well. She found a close buddy in Freya and enjoys playing and chewing on her...

Molly has been doing well with her potty training so far. She seems to be very capable of holding her bladder and bowls. After the first two nights, she now holds it all though a 7 hour night! I also go to work and come home at lunch to let her out. About 80% of the time she has held it while I was gone and about 60% of the time she actually makes it outside! Sometimes she gets very excited to see me and does not quite make it out the door... but we are working hard at it, and she is doing so well!

Molly is still pretty frightened of her cart. We put her in it for only a few minutes at a time but she does not seem to want to move forward. We thinking it might be because her feet are still dragging(?) and they seem to get in the way of the wheels when we can get her to take a step. We are hoping once she gets more flexibility in her legs we can put them back in the straps and she might feel more comfortable moving...

We have been working on her physical therapy when we can at home. She has much better flexibility in her paws and tends to stand with her feet in the right direction about 60% of the time. The flexibility in her legs is the hardest part. She gets agitated when you try to bend them... I am not sure if she is feeling pain (which could be a good thing I guess) or if she just thinks nothing good comes from me messing around back there. We will keep at it though! and hopefully we can start her soon in physical therapy at Smoketown.

We are just so lucky to have so many wonderful people willing to help us out with Molly. We are so thankful for all the hard work that Karen and her foster families have put into her. I give them so much credit... Molly is amazing, but she is a hand-full!!!! We appreciate the continued support from them and from those who have been following Molly's story.

We are also so lucky to have family that are so supportive of Molly and fell in love with her just as quickly as we have... and I am very lucky to have friends who come over on my lunch break with me to let the girls out and are more then willing to help us whenever we need them. We couldn't be more blessed. :)

Friday, 08/12/11 Molly goes HOME

Friday was bittersweet for Jason, Amber and the girls. I picked up Molly around 2:30 to meet Caitlin at Sun Hill Kennels. With my three goldens in the back of the mini van in their seat belts and Molly nestled on the floor of the front passenger's side, we made the drive to Sun Hill. Nancy H and Gilly were there too for our weekly swim with the kids. We were excited to have Molly join us!

All pups and people ventured to the pool area and the boys (Sam, Max, Zeke & Gilly) took off for their usual swim. Don from Sun Hill got Molly a vest just her size to use for the adventure. So puppy in arms, I ventured into the cold water. It was cold for this old lady, too! I held Molly as I submerged into the chill. Letting her get used to the water gradually, her little front legs started going. She was swimming her little heart out. Rehab had told us the have her do figure 8's in the water, so we tried that for a very short time. We wanted this to be fun for her.

We swam a couple minutes and then out to the grass for a while. As Molly watched the boys playing and romping all around, she tried so hard to catch them. I think this was the most heart-breaking thing to see. But she didn't see to care. She bounce as close as she could before they scamper away. She's just such a happy little girl.

When our half-hour swim was up, we made the trek to our cars with five wet pups. Swapping all Molly's belongings into Caitlin's car was the beginning of her new life. I hope I can be her Dog Mother :) She's gotten into my heart very deeply in the short amount of time I've known her.

Reassuring Caitlin we have not deserted her, I asked she keep me posted on progress and made myself available should she have any questions or needs.

So, when I got home, I checked my email later that evening, I found a status report and pic! "YEAH, They are perfect together" - referring to Freya, Caitlin's dog and Molly.

Then, later that same evening it got "They haven't stopped playing all night!! I thought Molly would be tired out fro Swimming! Guess not!"

I''m so elated this is working out for Molly. Now it's just a matter of supporting this wonderful couple for taking on the special special girl. More on that in days to come.... as well as more video and pics!

8/12/11 - Molly's cart arrives

Molly's temporary cart arrived and we all met her and her foster family at the Ephrata Park along with Caitlin and Freya (Molly's new home as of Friday if all goes well).

Just standing Molly in the cart was tiring and a little stressful for the growing pup, but cheese and some yummy salmon treats helped her along. No steps were taken; it was just to get her used to the cart and make it a positive experience.

After being in the cart a bit, it was fun-time with all the kids, and Freya, Molly's new canine sissy:) Freya had been ignoring Molly but that evening she wanted to play with Molly and visa vesa. I think they're gonna be just fine.

Friday will be the switch for Molly to her new home. I"ll be bringing Molly to Sun Hill Kennels and meeting Caitlin there. I have a swimming appointment for my dogs and we'll be taking Molly in for a 'quick dip'! They have life vests and we're going to see how that goes for a very short period of time. Since Molly loves other dogs, we felt it may be more comforting for her to see other dogs in the pool too. Just a few minutes unless she absolutely loves it :)

Say a prayer this weekend goes will with Molly and Freya. Then I'll have to turn this blog over to Caitlin:)

Molly was at vet for rest of puppy and rabies shots and a check up today. Lookin' good. She's feeling more than she had when she was there previously. So we called the neurologist. Said that can happen, good sign. Got our hopes up a bit. Tomorrow we go for Rehab Assessment. Hope to hear more good news that therapy will help her. All advise swim, swim, smim!

08/03/11 Molly Update

Busy, busy we've been busy. Molly's stay with Gretchen has come to an end. It was just too much for a single Mom with a sweet little boy who needed her and two other rescue dogs, for her to give Molly the attention she needed.

So Molly is now back with Jason and Amber and the girls temporarily. Molly adjusts so well. Both homes have given her so much socialization and attention. She's going to make a great therapy dog someday. She's just so happy all the time, what a beautiful attitude!

We met with two potential forever homes this week and one looks like it may pan out. The young couple, along with their dog, met Molly on Monday night at the Akron Park. All went well. They seemed to really fall for little precious Molly and asked all the right questions and had all the concerns we'd expect a loving home to have. They will be taking Molly next weekend to make sure all is fine with their dog, and if that seems to be ok, I think we'll be set. So say a little prayer that Freya and Molly become fast buddies!

We have also found a cart for Molly and more details on that coming up.

Molly is off to the vet this week for final puppy shots and just an over-all check up. She seems to drink a lot so we want to be sure everything is ok.

Molly's future

On Friday, Kris, Gretchen, and I took Molly to the neurologist in MD to see what he thought about her condition. After looking at her x-rays and testing her, he thought a possible 50/50 chance surgery could help her. He's has seen a dog in a worse starting point eventually learn to walk.But there is no guarantee. But the good news is: Things are connected. She does feel things. She does hold her bowel and bladder - but just releases it at the most opportune times. The neurologist would be able to tell more regarding the walking and bowel/bladder control after a $2900 MRI.

But sadly, our own funds have run out, other that a couple of us willing to purchase a drag-bag for her now and a cart in a few months when she will be more the size she will be when she if full grown. We all have concerns that we are doing the right thing. We are seriously considering releasing her to GRREAT (Golden Retriever Rescue and Training).

If there is anyone out there, with the deep pockets to pursue the potential surgery and/or provide her with an exceptional home, doing her Physical Therapy exercises, etc. being patient w/the potty issue, NOW is the time to comment below and let us know. It's time to do what is best for Molly - as our hearts are breaking!

Molly is staying with Gretchen and Bailey, probably till at least Thursday when she will go to the REHAB clinic to see what they have to say. We should also be hearing soon what an orthopedic surgeon has to say re: her x-rays. I'm afraid we may be referred to an neurologist. $$$$. But we really want to do all we can for her before we turn her over to anyone else. She will be an expensive little girl to keep, with possible rehab visits, needing a cart down the road, etc. But when you watch this video, you can see she's worth it, for sure!

Sweet little Molly seems to be having so much fun with Gretchen and her son, we decided to leave her there for a day or so.

We hope to have a surgeon looking at Molly's x-rays this week and we will also be trying to get her in at Smoketown for a Rehab assessment on Thursday. So depending on what the surgeon says, we may just let Molly stay with Gretchen till Thursday.

Going potty is still a problem, although she does hold it. And Chandler Rudd, in his story about Lucy, said she was the same way. Molly sounds so much like Lucy and I pray she can follow in Lucy's footsteps. Chandler and his wife were Lucy's last chance at life. She was going to be put down - an mainly because of the potty thing. Gretchen has been a saint working with her! Just got a report from Gretchen on Little Molly's weekend so far. Going well, but same potty issue. She's holding it but when picked up to go outside, we don't quite get there. I know Chandler, Lucy's dad said lot's of praise when it happens outside, and patience!

Gretchen took her son and Molly up to the neighbors and Molly is enjoying all the kids. They love her and she loves them. The kids had a lemonade stand to raise $ "to make Molly walk again". Doesn't get more precious that that! She's already "touching lives / warming hearts"!

Little Molly has a place to go for the weekend. Gretchen and her 6 yr old son in York agreed to take her for the weekend. They are considering keeping her and what better way to find out if it is something they want to take on.
Friday, around noon, I went to get the little princess from Amber and the kids to take her to York. She had a good drink before we left so I knew when we got there, good chance she's have to pee-pee. The ride was probably 30 - 45 minutes and as soon as I got there, I opened the crate and headed straight for the grass. En route from point a to point b, we had a bit of a tinkle on me.

This seems to be common, as it happened to Amber too. At least she holds it for a time. Maybe we're squeezing it out of her :)

But I did find a role model for us! Lucy! http://www.landofpuregold.com/ilovelucy.htm VERY MOVING STORY. I've been in touch with him. Lucy had similar problem but they got through it!

Little Molly is back with their temporary home with Jason, Amber and the girls after an evening with Karen & Bill and the 'boys'. All is well for now.

Karen and Kris are trying to get a surgeon to look at Molly's x-rays and possibly get a consult with physical therapy practitioner soon.

Trouble is, Jason and the family are going away for the weekend and we're still not quite sure where she will stay Friday afternoon - Sunday afternoon. EEKKKK ! ! !

So many options to look into.... acupuncture ?? cold laser ?? chiropractor ?? surgery ?? physical therapy ?? just to name a few. One day at a time. The little treasurer is just such a happy little girl; she deserves every chance we can possibly find for her. She will be such a blessing to someone - and hopefully many, in the future!

Jason and Amber had tickets to a concert in Hershey tonight so little Miss Molly was babysat by Karen and Bill and the three golden boys. They got along just fine.

Bill got out an old towel and used it as a sling and the little princess went touring. At one point, she even just toward Zeke to play. She'll do fine with a cart. Wonder if they have breaks?

Molly had a busy day today. Amber and her two YOUNG daughters took Molly to Mom's Club at the Ephrata Park. You may wonder how this super mom could have done this. Mom stopped over at Karen's and picked up Podley's stroller. Many of you who remember Podley may recall the stroller he would ride in from time to time when he was just a bit to tired to get around on his three legs.

The stroller is one of those for kids to be pulled in back of a bike or pushed as a stroller. Pod's was made for twins. It was perfect for his 55 lb stature. So we pulled it out and sent Mom, the girls and little Molly on their way. I think it was a hit! Don't you?

Molly needs a miralce

I'm sure we all get those sad emails of dogs needing a home for some reason or another. But this little lady tugged really really hard on my heart strings.

Meet Molly, a precious golden retriever puppy born March 31, 2011. This sweet girl is in need of a very special home. Someone who has time to work with her special needs, and help her live a joyful, wonderful life, despite her disabilities. She is truly a treasure - Hence - her full name for now to me is: Molly Joy Treasure!

Molly's situation was brought to my attention by Kris, a friend with a heart for our four-legged companions. After we went to see this sweetie we both decided we needed to find her a wonderful loving home - and ASAP. Molly has no use of her back legs; they are very straight and stiff. The 'breeder' had not done any x-rays or pursued any therapy for her.

The first thing Kris and I did when we got her was take her to the vet. The visit with Dr Sloyer at Neffsville came with good and bad news. The good news is - she was holding her bowels and bladder. We know this because she let both go during our visit. This is a good thing. Sometimes in this type of situation there is no muscle and it would just leak all the time! Each came at different times and had been 'saved up' :)

More good news, he could flex her little hocks, stifles and hips. After working them for a bit the actually flexed more. AND she has feeling in them! Another good thing! AND She's probably won't get too big. She's only 18 lbs at almost 15 weeks. She'll be on the smaller side - I think it's God's way of watching out for her.

The bad news - her x-rays looked horrible. Just by looking at x-rays he never would have thought she'd have any feeling, etc back there. BUT SHE DOES. Her spine is just not normal. He didn't think surgery would be an option. But somehow maybe we can check with a specialist.

He said she'd probably never walk w/o a wheelchair/cart but felt she could learn to stand and balance. She was standing yesterday. She swings those little hips and who knows what she can learn to do.

So where is Molly now? She is with a family who agreed to keep her till Friday when they go on vacation. Then possibly she may be going to a vet/physical therapist for a week. After that ????? That is the reason for this blog. To find her a forever home near us!

My dream for her would be to become a KPETS therapy dog, who would motive children at Shreiber Pediatric , Lancaster Rehab Hospital. OR what if she lived with someone in a retirement community - someone in independent living who is retired and in good health who could then share her with other in their community by visiting those in Health Care or even have her adventures followed by the facility in-house TV to brighten the bedridden residents' days. OR possibly in a group home with special people who are well enough to work with her with the care-takers assistance OR just a big hearted family with the time to spend with her and on her to help her liver her life to the fullest. Last resort would be to release her to GRREAT (Golden Retriever Rescue Education and Training). Not that that is a bad thing, but I know I'll have trouble saying good-bye to that precious little face.

So if you know of exceptional person who would love to give this girl a chance, please let me know.
